BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Interested in the history of the Kraken? Get down to the library and read all about it.

The Whatcom County Library System just won an award for their recent marketing campaign.

One of eight winners of the John Cotton Dana Award, the library is being honored for a recent public relations campaign and outreach effort to get folks signed up for cards and services.

The campaign featured a cast of legendary ambassador like Sasquatch, the Kraken and unicorns, promoting the system’s brand and highlighting everything you can do with a library card.

WCLS Director Christine Perkins says she’s excited about the award and notes that our mid-sized library system won along with larger libraries in Chicago, Los Angeles and Edmonton.

The award comes with a $10,000 grant from the HW Wilson Foundation.
