BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The recent floods in Whatcom County caused over $4-Million in damage.
Emergency management officials say they will ask for a federal disaster declaration over the so-called “Super Bowl Flood.”
John Gargett with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says nearly 50 homes, many in Sumas, and six businesses saw about $1.6-Million in damages and another $2.5-Million in damage was done to roads and other infrastructure.
A State-FEMA Preliminary Damage Assessment Team plans to evaluate the damage in Whatcom County this week.
