OLYMPIA, Wash. – The state legislature will be going remote, for the most part, when the session begins January 10th.
In response to an increase in COVID-19 cases, the House is scaling back the number of people allowed in the chamber for the upcoming legislative session.
An updated plan requiring the majority of lawmakers to vote remotely will also be in effect again this year.
Two lawmakers from each caucus and the presiding officer will be allowed on the floor, which is fewer than what lawmakers anticipated in a November plan.
All members must show proof of vaccination.
The updated plan also requires any lawmaker or staffer on the floor to verify that they have received a booster.
All lawmakers and staff who work onsite will need to be tested three days a week, with the House covering the cost.
