BELLINGHAM, Wash. –  A Bellingham man is in jail facing a slew of charges after deputies say he kidnapped his ex-wife and son, sexually assaulted the woman several times and threatened to kill them both.

Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo said Balwinder Singh Nagra broke into his ex-wife’s home early last Thursday morning and kidnapped their teenage son, taking him back to Nagra’s home in the 500 block of Kelly Road.

Later that morning, Elfo said Nagra went back to the woman’s house after she returned from work, repeatedly hit her, then forced her back to his Kelly Road home.

The Sheriff said Nagra kept the victims in his home for three days, but when he fell asleep Saturday morning the woman and their son were able to escape.

Deputies and a SWAT team responded to the home and were able to arrest Nagra without incident at about 2:45 Saturday afternoon.
