BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A domestic violence call Thursday resulted in the SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams assisting with the arrest of a Bellingham woman.
Officers say 58-year-old Tara L. Brinson assaulted a family member by hitting and strangulation and was shoved out of the house in the 1100 block of North Forest.
Brinson then threatened to break in and kicked the door before returning to her residence in the 900 block of Lincoln Street.
Officers went to Lincoln Street to talk to Brinson but she went inside her apartment and locked the door, only speaking to officers by way of cursing and shouting.
SWAT and Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene and evacuated the immediate area.
After unsuccessful attempts to get Brinson to surrender and repeated warnings, a chemical irritant was introduced into the apartment.
Brinson soon came out and was arrested without further incident.
