OLYMPIA, Wash. – There has been an uptick in “gold scammers” on Washington state’s highways.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding says in a Facebook post that they have seen an increase in gold scammers on highways in recent weeks.

Harding says the scammers will flag down drivers and claim to have issues with their vehicle.

The scammers ask for help with their cars, then offer gold in exchange for cash, claiming it is the real deal.

The State Patrol actually caught one scammer in the act who was trying to unload fake gold chains on unsuspecting good Samaritans.

If you are in the market for gold, you should always buy it from a reputable dealer.
