NEWHALEM, Wash. – Rainy weather helped slow the spread of the Sourdough wildfire in the North Cascades over the weekend.

Officials say the fire has burned over 6,200 acres and is about 25 percent contained.

Cloud coverage and a chance for rain showers could help containment efforts later this week.

Park officials have reopened a handful of camps and trailheads south of Highway 20, including the Diablo and Gorge overlooks and parts of Diablo Lake.

Trails on the west side of Ross Lake and camps north of Highway 20 still remain closed.
