BELLINGHAM, WA. – Some campus departments at Western Washington University are facing outrage after “liking” and sharing a social media post created by an Arab student group that supported the Hamas attack on Israel.

The Bellingham Herald reports the Arab Student Association posted a statement on Instagram Tuesday, October 10th, that claimed the killings were justified and that Hamas gunmen are resistance fighters in a 75-year-old war instigated by Israel.

Someone in Western’s College of Business and Economics’ account “liked” the post and the school’s Ethnic Student Center shared it on their homepage.

The Ethnic Student Center removed the post on Wednesday and issued a statement of regret, saying they were deeply sorry for harm caused by resharing the post.

Some students voiced concerns over the university administration’s silence in response to the incident.
