NORTH CASCADES, Wash. – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is reminding people heading into the backcountry to tell people about their plans after that information helped them rescue an overdue hiker.

Deputies responded to a report Monday, November 8th,  that a 21-year-old Seattle man didn’t return from an overnight hike in North Cascades National Park.

They called in volunteers with Whatcom County Search and Rescue to help.

The hiker had given friends detailed plans about his trip and rescuers say having that information was very helpful in finding the man.

He was found cold, wet and hungry but otherwise okay.
