BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The company that owns Bellingham’s Regal Cinemas is considering bankruptcy, but the screens will not be going dark.
CBS News reports that British company Cineworld Group is considering filing for bankruptcy in the U.S. in order to reduce its debt.
The company struggled during the pandemic, losing $2.7 billion in 2020 and $566 million in 2021.
It says it’s had a gradual recovery but attendance is still below expectations.
The company promises its theaters will be open for business as usual while it works on its finances.
