BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Packaged smoked salmon that was sold in Washington state has been recalled over possible listeria contamination.

The maker of St. James Smokehouse brand, Scotch Reserve Scottish Smoked Salmon is recalling four ounce packages of the product.

Routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture detected the bacteria in a package shipped here.

It was sold in Safeway and other stores in Washington and in nine other states between February and June this year.

Anyone who has the product should throw it away.
