BELLINGHAM, Wash. – You will likely see a pink police cruiser on the streets of Bellingham this month.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Bellingham Police Department has dedicated one of its vehicles to highlight the cause.
And the wife of a crime scene investigator is sharing her story to urge women to be pro-active against the disease.
Tiffany Kingery is the wife of Bellingham Officer Eric Kingery.
She says she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2020 when she was just 32.
She caught it early through self-examination and is now cancer free following treatment.
But says she may not have survived if she had waited until her first mammogram was recommended at age 40.
The department urges residents to watch for the pink car, take a photo with it, and scan a QR code on it that allows a direct contribution to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center.
