BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) Peoples Bank is helping the local Lions Club with its mission to care for peoples’ vision.

The Bellingham-based bank has given the Bellingham Lions’ Haskell Eye Clinic a $25,000 grant to buy an optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine.

It will allow the all-volunteer clinic to provide non-invasive screenings for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and many more eye conditions.

The clinic has been in operation for 12 years and offers free eye exams and glasses to qualified low-income and homeless people in the community.

Peoples Bank will also make a $10,000 grant to another regional non-profit based on results of a public vote through November 1st.
