BELLINGHAM, Wash. – One person was killed and another injured in a fire at a residence off the Guide Meridian on Tuesday morning, July 4th.

Fire Chief Jason Van Der Veen said units were alerted to a structure fire at 6 a.m. where several trailers and a house were fully ablaze.

One occupant had to jump from a window and suffered a severe laceration to his leg.

They were treated and transported to Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center in stable condition.

Two other occupants were able to escape with their dog without getting injured.

The fourth and last occupant was found dead in a mobile home in the back of the residence.

Both directions of the Guide were shut down for about three hours until the scene was under control.

Units from North Whatcom Fire and Rescue, the Bellingham Fire Department and Whatcom County Fire District 7 worked together to handle the fire.

The investigation is ongoing, and no cause has been determined yet.
