BELINGHAM, Wash. – There were no injuries when a train hit a car stuck on the tracks Thursday morning, January 20th.
Bellingham Police report a person was driving over the tracks at Wharf Street just after 7 a.m. when they misjudged the crossing and became stuck with the left front tire over a rail.
The driver got out and away to safety as they saw a train approaching.
The BNSF train hit the car, sending it about 200 feet from the point of impact.
The train stopped after the collision.
