BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood is running for re-election.
In his announcement, Fleetwood cites his record of leading the city through the pandemic and appointing new city leadership including police and fire chiefs among his first term accomplishments.
He says his years as mayor and on the Bellingham City and Whatcom County Councils make him the most qualified candidate.
Former Port of Bellingham Commissioner Michael McAuley and political newcomer Kim Lund have announced plans to challenge Fleetwood.
Candidates have until the end of this week to officially file with the Whatcom County Auditor to appear on the August primary ballot.
