LANGLEY, Wash. – Former TV talk show host Conan O’Brien visited the Whidbey Island town of Langley last Friday, June 10th, to celebrate the premiere of a play written by his wife Elizabeth “Liza” Powel O’Brien.

“It’s getting its world premiere tonight here at Whidbey,” said O’Brien. “We’re very excited for her and very, very appreciative that Whidbey is so welcoming to artists everywhere, but especially and best of all my wife.”

And Langley returned the compliment by dedicating a trash can outside city hall to the comedian.

“This is a great honor. I want to thank all of you for this fantastic privilege of having a trash can named after me,” said O’Brien. “I want to thank my good friend Chief Wasser who stopped and had me arrested.”

The play “Apostrophe” by Liza Powel O’Brien runs through June 25th at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.
