BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Lake Padden Golf Course is getting a new management team.

The City of Bellingham owns the golf course, but contracts with an outside company to run it.

Ron Hardesty with Lake Padden, LLC, says the current operator wanted to continue.

“They’ve been thwarted by what I see as a city that just doesn’t understand how golf course, probably, business really works,” Hardesty said.

But, Bellingham Parks and Recreation Director Leslie Bryson says the proposal from the present managers was drastically different than the existing contract.

She says that forced the city to look for a different operator.

If you purchased what you thought were non-expiring golf passes, you may want to use them by the end of the year.

The new management team could choose to honor them, but it’s not required to.
