WASHINGTON PASS, Wash. – The North Cascades Highway is now closed for the winter.

WSDOT had temporarily closed Highway 20 over the Cascades last Thursday, November 3rd, because of deteriorating weather conditions.

But 30 inches of snowfall over the weekend prompted the department to declare the annual closure in effect.

The highway will remain closed between mileposts 134 and 178 until crews clear it next spring.
