BELLINGHAM, Wash. — While recent wildfires have devastated so many, another kind of fire has plagued local farmers.
There have been about a half dozen hay fires on local farms this summer.
The most recent was this past week on Albert DeBoer’s dairy farm.
He told KGMI Farming Show host Dillon Honcoop that he was lucky.
The process is a science, as hay can become combustible if it contains too much moisture.
Albert says this is the first time he’s had a fire in 50 years of making hay.
