BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The owner of Giuseppe’s Al Porto in Bellingham is retiring.

Giuseppe Mauro announced on his Facebook page that he’s selling the Italian restaurant he’s owned for 17 years.

Mauro opened Giuseppe’s downtown on Commercial Avenue in 2002, then moved to a building on Cornwall after a fire in 2004.

He moved the restaurant to Bellwether Way at Squalicum Harbor in 2009.

Mauro says he’s selling the business to Lombardi’s, which has Italian restaurants in Mill Creek and at the Everett Marina.

Giuseppe’s last day is July 30th and he encourages anyone with gift cards to use them before that date.
