Former Seahawks punter Rick Tuten dies

Former Seattle Seahawks punter Rick Tuten has died at the age of 52. According to the Ocala Star Bulletin, Tuten died unexpectedly in Costa Rica.  The cause of death is unknown.

The former University of Miami and Florida State star played seven years for the Seahawks between 1991-1997. He went to the Pro Bowl for Seattle in 1994 and earned the nickname “Bootin’ Tuten”.

Tuten also played for the Bills, Eagles, and Rams, during his 11-year career. He won a Super Bowl ring with St. Louis in 1999.  In 141 games he averaged 43.4 yards per punt.

Profootballtalk.com reports Tuten is survived by his wife and three children
