Flooding closes multiple Whatcom County roads

BELLINGHAM, Wash. —

A portion of Slater Road is closed due to flooding over the roadway.

Whatcom County Public Works says detours around Slater Road at the Nooksack River will be posted at Labounty Drive to the east and at Ferndale Road to the west.

They say the road will be closed until it’s safe for travel.

East Hemmi Road East of Hannegan Road and Ferndale Road north of Marine Drive are also closed due to water over the roadway and the county is urging caution on several other Whatcom County roads.

The Whatcom County Public Works Department has issued a list of roads currently being impacted.

  • Aldrich Road – S of Lange Rd – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Barrett Road – For Water Over Road – Closed
  • Beard Road – 100 Block, East of Guide – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Bylsma Road – at Wiser Lake Road E – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Bylsma Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • East Hemmi – East of Hannegan Road – Closed
  • Ferndale – north of Slater – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Ferndale Road – North of Marine Drive – Closed
  • Flynn Road – North of River Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Gulf Rd – One Lane Road, Abrupt Lane Edge – Caution
  • Innis Creek Rd – South of Doren Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Kelly Road – at Yellowbrick Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Kline Road – 600 block Between Guide Meridian and Hannegan Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Marine Drive – West of Ferndale Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Marine Drive – Between Rural Avenue and Lummi Shore Road – Closed
  • North Pass Road – NE of Deeter – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Paradise Road – For Water Over Road – Closed
  • Park Rd – 4800 Block- Abrupt Lane Edge. Advisory speed of 10 MPH. – Rough Road, Motorcycle Use Caution
  • Slater Road – Slater Road at Nooksack River Bridge due to flooding over roadway, detours posted at LaBounty Drive to the East and at Ferndale Road to the West. – Closed
  • Ten Mile – Between Hannegan and Noon 1500 Blk – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • Truck Road – West of Diehl Rd – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • VanWyck Road – between Dewy and Noon Road – Water / Debris Over Roadway
  • West Shore Drive – South of Nugent Road – Single Lane Ahead, Be Prepared to Stop
