FERNDALE, Wash. — Ferndale’s Central Elementary School was recognized as a school of distinction for the third time.

The Center for Educational Effectiveness announced the award on October 11, noting Central was one of 51 elementary schools in Washington to be recognized.

The School of Distinction award celebrates school staff, students and leaders improving performance in language arts and math over a sustained period of time.

The top 5 percent of highest improving schools are recognized.
