FERNDALE, Wash. – A dump truck is to blame for a closure Sunday afternoon on I-5.

Trooper Rocky Oliphant said on Twitter that the truck hit the overpass on the northbound side at Portal Way around 4:45 pm.

The impact exposed the rebar under the overpass, causing the northbound lanes to be closed for several hours.

The lanes were reopened around 7:30 p.m. but the right shoulder remains closed.

Trooper Oliphant added that the trucking company is cooperating with the investigation.
