BELLINGHAM, Wash. – An overturned kayaker was rescued from Bellingham Bay over the weekend.
U.S. Coast Guard officials said that the 60-year-old man was paddling with two others near Fairhaven on Saturday, December 10th, when weather conditions forced them to return to shore.
The other two kayakers called 911 when they realized the man had not made it back with them.
Coast Guard crews located the man, who was able to signal for help with a VHF radio.
He was treated for hypothermia and was transferred to EMS in stable condition.
Water temperatures in Bellingham Bay on Saturday hovered around 46 degrees.
