BELLINGHAM, WA (KGMI.com) – Prosecutors have dropped charges against three Bellingham School District administrators involved in a student sexual assault case.

Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker said in a statement that the resolution will require them to complete additional Title IX training.

Last December, those administrators were accused of failing to properly report a student’s claims of sexual assaults in January 2022.

Squalicum HS Vice Principals Jeremy Louzao and Megan Dunham and Bellingham HS Vice Principal Maude Chimere Hackney all pled not guilty to the misdemeanor charges.

All three were reassigned to district headquarters before being reinstated to their previous roles over the summer.

Pre-trial hearings had been scheduled to begin Thursday, with their trial starting on Monday, December 11th.

A federal lawsuit against the Bellingham School District filed by the student who was assaulted will be heard next September.

Dr. Baker adds that the district remains committed to providing a safe environment for students and will continue to train staff on appropriate reporting procedures.
