BLAINE, Wash. — Work on the Birch Bay Berm project has resumed, now that summer is behind us.

The route of the pedestrian walkway from Bay Breeze restaurant and south on Birch Bay Drive is being prepared for surfacing.

Whatcom County Public works is asking walkers to stay away from the area today and tomorrow as gravel paving is added to the path.

North of Bay Breeze, earth moving is underway and drain pipe has been located on the shore for eventual install.

The County says drivers will see single-lane road closures along Birch Bay Drive this week  and next week drivers will be temporarily diverted over a small ramp on the road that protects pipes pumping stream water.
