WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash – An off-duty Bellingham Police officer was arrested for trespassing on Saturday after police say he intimidated his wife.
Undersheriff Jeff Parks says Corporal Brooks Laughlin got into a heated argument with the woman at a home near Sumas but responding officers didn’t find enough evidence to make an arrest.
He was told to leave and did but returned later and refused to leave.
Officers arrested him and a no contact order is now in place.
Police Lieutenant Danette Beckley says Laughlin is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
