BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A task force of students, school personnel and citizens that’s been considering new mascots for Bellingham High School have poured over suggestions over recent months and have weeded out some with derogatory connotations, innapropriate connections and many that students just didn’t like.
They’ve come up with a list of finalists and are asking the community for input – especially from BHS alumni, current and future students and staff.
The four finalists are: Bayhawks, Raptors with a dinosaur logo, Raptors with a bird of prey logo, and the classic Collegiate B.
BHS principal Linda Wise Miller says they’ll take feedback until noon on Tuesday, May 25th.
The district announced in January that it was permanently retiring the school’s Red Raider mascot.
