WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s economy saw little movement in the state’s latest jobs report.

The Employment Security Department reports that the county lost just over 100 jobs from March to April.

Its non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate sat at 4.8% in April, which remained the same as March’s rate.

But it was up over a full percentage point from the same time last year.

Skagit County saw a nearly identical trend, with its jobless rate unchanged from the past month, while jumping a full percentage point from April 2025.

The next state-wide jobs report for May will be released on June 17.

Washington has gone roughly a year and a half without a statewide drop in its unemployment rate.
