BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Letter carriers from the United State Postal Service (USPS) are rallying across the country in demand of a fair contract and a Whatcom County branch is joining in on the action.

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) announced that they are rallying outside of the Bellingham City Hall at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 and picketing until 2:30 p.m. outside of the Federal Building Post Office.

NALC explained that the rally is coming after 500 days of working without a fair contract and hopes to highlight the need for improved workers’ treatment and compensation.

“We are rallying to demand a fair contract that values all letter carriers equally, ends unfair labor practices, and recognizes the sacrifices we have made and continue to make daily,” Kevin Ernest, President of NALC Branch 450, said. “This nationwide day of action is a critical step in our fight for a fair contract.”

NALC Branch 450 represents USPS letter carriers across the Bellingham, Mt. Vernon, Burlington and Sedro-Woolley areas.
