WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A fiery dispute over a truck sale near Custer ended with the vehicle up in flames while someone was still inside.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Amy Cloud says deputies responded to a report of vandalism on McGee Road on the morning of Sunday, May 4.

A pair of witnesses told them that a woman had poured gasoline onto and inside a truck that one of them owned and lit it on fire. The purported owner was inside the truck when it was set ablaze, though no injuries were reported.

The alleged victim says they bought the truck from the woman before the incident, which caused over $3,000 in damage.

Deputies tracked down the 51-year-old suspect, who instead claimed that the victim had stolen the truck from her.

She was arrested and booked into the Whatcom County Jail, where she remains on $50,000 bail.
