And in Class 1B, the Lummi Nation boys beat Neah Bay 61-46 on Saturday.

The 2nd-seeded Blackhawks will face 7th-seeded Moses Lake Christian Academy on Friday.

And the Lummi girls fell to Neah Bay 48-37, but their season will still go on.

The 9th-seeded Blackhawks will face the winner of Mary M. Knight and Muckleshoot Tribal on Friday in a loser-out match.

The Mariners’ offense showed out in a high-scoring spring training win this afternoon.

The M’s beat the Brewers 12-8 in their fifth match of Cactus League play.

Seattle trailed 7-1 entering the sixth inning, but exploded for 11 runs over the next three innings to take the win.

Mitch Haniger hit a solar home run and Logan Gilbert gave up two runs over one inning in the start.

The Mariners have evened up their record to 2-2 ahead of tomorrow’s match against the defending World Series champion Dodgers.

The Kraken got a massive win in their first game back from the extended NHL break.

Seattle beat the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers 2-1 on Saturday thanks to a go-ahead goal from Jared McCann early in the third period.

They couldn’t carry that momentum up throughout the weekend though, and lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 yesterday.

The Kraken come out of the break with the 13th-best record in the Western Conference and sit nine points back from a playoff spot.

They’re back tomorrow night when they face the St. Louis Blues.

Coverage begins at 4:30 and puck drops at 5 on KPUG.

The Sounders kicked off their season on Saturday.

Jordan Morris scored two goals to tie a franchise record before an own goal in stoppage time helped FC Charlotte play the Sounders to a 2-2 tie in the season opener for both teams at a rain-soaked Lumen Field.

Morris has 86 career goals across all competitions for Seattle, tied with Raúl Ruidíaz for the club record, and his 10 multi-goal games in the regular season are tied with Clint Dempsey for second most in Sounders history.

Both Western Washington University basketball teams picked up wins over the weekend.

The Viking mens started Saturday off with a 90-70 win over Simon Frasier, led by 27 points from Tijan Saine.

The Viks have won 10 of their last 11 games heading into a crucial rivalry game this Thursday against Central Washington, who owns the top record in the GNAC.

After that, the Western women rallied for a 65-55 win over Simon Frasier at Senior Night.

The Viks trailed by six-points in the 4th quarter, but held Simon Frasier to just seven points in the quarter to help the seniors close out their final game in Carver Gym.

They’ll look to get their third straight win when they travel to Seattle Pacific on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Big Ten woes continued for the Huskies men.

Washington fell to Iowa 85-79 on Saturday after leading at halftime.

The Huskies now sit at the bottom of the Big Ten standings with a 4-12 conference record.

The UW women found more success, notching an 83-62 win over Nebraska yesterday.

Former Nooksack Valley standout and Huskies freshman Devin Coppinger chipped in with a pair of threes on her way to leading the bench with 8 points.

WWU softball is hitting its stride.

Western went 4-0 in their opening games against GNAC teams over the weekend.

It was their batting that excelled in the matches, scoring at least 10 runs in three of the four wins.

The 10th nationally ranked Viks have pulled themselves up to 11-4 after losing four of their first five to open the season.

They’re riding a 10-game win streak into this Saturday’s home opener against Simon Fraser.
