Man in custody after attempted robbery in downtown Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after attempting to rob another person in downtown Bellingham.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that the victim was working at a parking garage on Sunday morning when the suspect attacked them without warning.

The victim was punched and thrown to the ground by the suspect, who demanded everything in the victim’s pockets. After attempting to grab the victim’s pockets several times, the suspect gave up and left without taking anything.

The 35-year-old suspect was located close by and was arrested. He remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $100,000 bail.
