WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Pacific Northwest Region of the USDA has announced they will be hiring wildland firefighters for the 2025 fire season.

This comes after the Trump administration put a hiring freeze on all agencies with some exceptions, stoking fears of not being able to hire and prepare before the fire season begins.

The agency is looking to hire a wide range of positions that cover everything from preparations to piloting aircraft and working in hand crews. Any U.S. citizen or national over the age of 18 is welcome to apply for the positions.

Applicants have until Thursday, April 24 to apply.

Information on job openings can be found here.
