SEAHAWKS NEWS

The Seahawks are riding high after getting a close win on Thursday Night Football.

Jason Myers hit a go-ahead 52-yard field goal as time expired to help Seattle edge the Arizona Cardinals 23-20 last night.

The Seahawks were up for nearly the entire game in Arizona before the Cards made a late rally and scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes.

But Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught a clutch 22-yard pass from Sam Darnold with 23 seconds left to set up the game-winning field goal.

Darnold finished with 242 passing yards and a touchdown to help the Seahawks win their eighth-straight game over the Cardinals.

Seattle’s defense added six sacks and two picks in the win.

The Hawks now improve to 3-1 on the season ahead of next week’s home matchup against 3-0 Tampa Bay.

Eugenio Suarez hit his 49th home run of the season to match a career high.

The Mariners have now won 17 of their last 18 games and have locked up a first-round bye in the playoffs.

They’ll now face a Dodgers club that’s already locked up the #3 seed in the National League.

It’ll be a historic day at T-Mobile on Sunday, as legendary pitcher and future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw is slated to make the final regular season start of his career.

George Kirby is on the mound for tonight’s series opener.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KGMI.

Meanwhile, The Zone’s Friday Night Lights pregame show is live from Lynden High School today for Lynden vs. Anacortes in a matchup of the top 2A schools in the state.

Both teams own 3-0 records heading into the matchup as the Lions look to defend their home turf against the 2x reigning state champion Seahawks.

That will be on KPUG with Jim Bring and Dan Kaemingk on the call.

We’ll also have Lummi Nation’s game against Tulalip Heritage over on KBAI with Jason Upton and Randy Farmer on the call for that one.

Allan Fee and the crew are previewing those matchups and all the others going on around the county this weekend leading up until the 7:00 kickoff for both games.
