The Zone’s Friday Night Lights show is back for season two as the high school football season kicks off in Whatcom County.
Allan Fee and the crew are live from Lynden High School ahead of Lynden’s season opener against Ferndale. He’ll have coaches, broadcasters and so many more people on to preview the classic Lions-Golden Eagles rivalry and also discuss the rest of the games going on around the county.
Friday Night Lights coverage will take you right up until kickoff between the Lions and Golden Eagles on KPUG. Tonight’s game starts at 7:00 with Jim Bring and the Coach Dan Kaemingk on the call.

Mount Baker is at Port Angeles at 6.
Starting at 7:00, Squalicum plays at Burlington-Edison.

Seahawks News
The pro football season is officially off and running. The defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles edged the Dallas Cowboys 24-20 last night in a game that was put on hold for an hour in the third quarter due to a lightning delay. Jalen Hurts ran in two scores and Saquon Barkley added a third to help the Eagles hold off their rivals.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks open their season on Sunday against their division rival San Francisco 49ers.
There’s plenty of new faces in Seattle after the departures of Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Sam Darnold, Cooper Kupp and new OC Klint Kubiak will look to help turn around the Seahawks’ offense in Mike Macdonald’s second year at the helm.

Huskies/Cougs News
The Huskies and Cougs are both back in action tomorrow. First up, Wazzu will venture into Mountain West play when they host San Diego State.
The Cougs are coming off a last-second win over Idaho last weekend that gave Jimmy Rogers his first win in Pullman. They’ll look to continue their success tomorrow night against the Aztecs.
Kickoff is at 7:15.
The Huskies will look to extend their home winning streak tomorrow against UC Davis.
UW beat Colorado State last weekend to take their 21st straight win at Husky Stadium, extending the longest run in modern school history. Lynden Christian alum Kade Eldridge helped the effort with a rushing touchdown in his first game as a Husky.
Jed Fisch and the team will look to make it 22 straight at home tomorrow night against the Aggies. Coverage begins at 6:00 and kickoff is at 8 on KGMI.
Mariners News
The Mariners are back today as they kick off the final leg of what’s been another disastrous road trip.
The M’s are coming off a series sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays and have lost five of their last six. They’ve also lost 12 of their last 14 games on the road.
Seattle now sits 3.5 games behind Houston for first place in the AL West and just a game and a half ahead of Texas for the final wild card spot.
We could also get a first look at highly-touted prospect Harry Ford this weekend, who was just called up from Tacoma.
Logan Gilbert is on the mound today as the M’s look to break their away-game woes. Coverage begins at 3:00 and first pitch is at 4:10 on KGMI.
Storm News
The Storm’s battle to secure a playoff spot is nearing its end. They’re hosting the New York Liberty tonight in their second-to-last game of the regular season.
Seattle currently owns the seven-seed in the WNBA standings, where eight teams go to the playoffs. They’re two games ahead of the 9th place Los Angeles Sparks.
A win tonight from the Storm would clinch them a spot in the playoffs, but a loss could send their chances spiraling.
Tipoff is at 7:00 from Climate Pledge Arena.
Also this weekend, Storm legend Sue Bird is one of three WNBA stars who are being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
