Mariners News

The Mariners will begin Game 3 of the ALDS against the Tigers at 4 pm Pacific Time today on KPUG after having their start time pushed back nearly three hours due to a rain delay.

Logan Gilbert made the start for the M’s, who are coming off a 3-2 win in Seattle on Sunday to even the best-of-five series at one game apiece.

First baseman Josh Naylor is back with the team after dealing with a personal matter. Naylor told the Seattle Times last week that he planned to fly to Arizona to be with his wife, who’s been expecting their first child. He was away from the team during their off-day yesterday, but is in the lineup for today’s game.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson declined to give any specifics on the situation and Naylor won’t be able to comment on it until after today’s game.

First pitch for Game 4 in Detroit tomorrow is at 12:08 pm on KPUG, but could be pushed back several hours depending on the outcome of tonight’s Blue Jays-Yankees game.

A former top prospect for the Mariners was hospitalized following a motorcycle accident.

The Seattle Times reports that Jesus Montero was riding in Venezuela when he was hit by a pickup truck sometime last weekend. Details are limited, but reports indicate that his situation is serious.

Montero spent parts of four seasons with the Mariners between 2012 and 2015. He broke out for Seattle in 2012, hitting 15 home runs and driving in 62 runs.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks’ next opponent put on an impressive show last night. The Jacksonville Jaguars edged the Kansas City Chiefs 31-38 on Monday Night Football.

Trevor Lawrence led the Jags on a game-winning drive that ended with him stumbling into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown.  Jacksonville trailed 14-0 late in the first half, but scored three straight touchdowns, including a 99-yard pick-six, to set up Lawrence’s game-winner.

They now improve to 4-1 on the season, tied for the best record in the league. They’re also 3-0 at EverBank Stadium, which is where they’ll be hosting the Seahawks this Sunday.

A former Husky quarterback just got some competition for his starting job in the NFL The Cincinnati Bengals acquired Joe Flacco and a sixth-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns today in exchange for a fifth-rounder.

The Bengals have been seeking help under center since franchise quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a toe injury in Week 2. Former Washington Husky Jake Browning came in as his replacement, but has struggled, throwing eight interceptions over parts of four games.

Cincinnati has been outscored 113-37 over its current three-game losing streak. The team has not yet announced who will be starting this week.

NHL News

Hockey season is officially off and running.

The NHL has three games today to open up the year, including the Penguins vs. Rangers, which is currently taking place at Madison Square Garden.

Meanwhile, the Kraken open their season at home against the Anaheim Ducks at 7 pm on Thursday in their first game under new head coach Lane Lambert.

They’ll be shorthanded after recent injuries to Ryker Evans and Kaapo Kakko, but should feature the debut of 19-year-old Berkly Catton, the team’s No. 8 overall pick in 2024.
