It started off strong, with Brendan Donovan hitting a leadoff home run in his first regular season at-bat as a Mariner. Dominic Canzone added a pair of homers and Luke Raley also went yard, but the Mariners’ bullpen couldn’t keep the game within reach as the Guardians prevailed.

Logan Gilbert gave up three runs and struck out seven through five and one thirds innings in the start.

Seattle will try to even their record up tonight with George Kirby taking the mound for the second of their four-game series against Cleveland.

Montour went on to score just under three minutes into extra time to help the Kraken end their four-game losing streak. They’ve now pulled within three points of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Kraken are back tomorrow afternoon to face the Buffalo Sabres. Coverage begins at 2:00 and puck drops at 2:30 on KGMI.
