BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A forgotten cell phone led to the arrest of two people suspected of dealing drugs in Bellingham.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson Amy Cloud says that the phone was found at an undisclosed business around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.

While trying to identify the phone’s owner, security discovered drug-dealing content on the device and alerted police. The suspects’ vehicle was located at a hotel in Bellingham.

A search warrant for the car and hotel room yielded significant amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine. The suspects, a 37-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, were taken into custody. They remain at the Whatcom County Jail on over $250,000 bail each.

A third person was also arrested on Saturday on suspicion of dealing drugs in an unrelated incident.

The suspect was in the back of a van that was pulled over for expired tags.

A K-9 search alerted deputies to narcotics in the back of the vehicle.

The suspect, identified as a 47-year-old man, was found to be carrying several baggies of suspected fentanyl.

He was taken into custody and remains in jail on $175,000 bail.
