WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A potential suspect has been named in the case of a missing Lummi Nation elder nearly six months after her disappearance.

62-year-old Besalynn James was reportedly last seen near her home on Balch Road on Jan. 21.

Her boyfriend, Terry Bowman, told police she left around 2 a.m. to go for a walk and never came back.

Now, Lummi Police Chief Jay Martin told King5 on Wednesday that Bowman has been named as a person of interest in her disappearance. Martin says Bowman has already been interviewed by both tribal police and the FBI.

He also says authorities know where Bowman is and are “putting pieces of the puzzle together.”

As the search for any trace of James continues, anyone who may have information is asked to fill out the FBI Tip Form at tips.fbi.gov or by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.
