BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man was arrested after stabbing a person within an encampment near the Meridian Guide.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that someone called 911 for the suspect who was having a medical issue on Saturday morning.

While on the phone with a dispatcher, the caller said that the suspect had stabbed another person in the back.

Officers arrived at an encampment near E. Kellogg Road and located both the stabbing victim and the suspect.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his lower back and was treated at the scene.

Police determined that the 61-year-old suspect didn’t require hospitalization for his medical issue, and he was booked into the Whatcom County Jail.
