BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The suspect accused of shooting a Lummi Police Officer had prior drug charges filed against him.

Court documents state that 23-year-old Jesus Penuelas-Agramon was being actively investigated for drug activity at the time of his arrest.

Undercover officers with the Whatcom Regional Drug Task Force made three controlled purchases of fentanyl-laced powder from Penuelas-Agramon between May and July. Investigators served a search warrant on the residence where Penuelas-Agramon was located and arrested following the July 28 shooting.

Documents showing money transfer details to Sinaloa, Mexico were found with the suspect’s alias name on it.

No narcotics were found during the search, but investigators seized over $9,200 in cash bundles from the residence.

Penuelas-Agramon has an arraignment hearing scheduled for Friday, Aug. 8.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that Lummi Police say the injured officer is on the road to recovery.
