BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A major connector into downtown Bellingham is on track to reopen by the end of the month.

The City of Bellingham says that new sidewalks and curbs have been installed along the James Street bridge.

All that’s left is to pave the roadway, which began earlier this week.

Once that is complete, crews will reopen the bridge on James Street while paving is done on the Meador Avenue bridge.

Additional lane closures are possible for final touches once both bridges reopen.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that the two adjacent bridges were originally built in the 1930s and were in need of significant upgrades.
