BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The City of Bellingham has announced multiple projects that may impact driving times on some of the city’s busiest roads.

Last week, the city outlined multiple projects beginning this week from downtown Bellingham to Meridian Street.

Drivers near Squalicum Harbor may have noticed ongoing work on Roeder Avenue, as the city has been working on the Roeder Lift Station. Crews will begin working around 5 a.m. with work ending at around 4 p.m. daily over the next few weeks.

The city will begin placing permanent striping on the Samish Way overpass, with lane shifts occurring at the intersection of Samish Way, Lincoln Street and Elwood Avenue. The city says this will allow for more efficient bicycle and vehicle turns.

Meridian Street will be repaved at night from July 20-24 and July 27-28. The repaving will take place from McLeod Road to Bakerview Road in part of the Meridian Sewer Replacement Project. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is looking to repave the road and is seeking community input through Aug. 7.

In downtown Bellingham, traffic will be impacted this week as the city plans to improve Holly Street. Enhanced visibility for cyclists, a reduction in right-turn conflicts and safer speeds through intersections are what the city is working on. Traffic may be impacted for one or two days.

Starting this week, crews will be repairing sewer pipes near Whatcom Falls Park. The work may temporarily close the Arbor Street entrance for about two days and sewer services will not be impacted.
