BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Amtrak Cascades trains are rolling through Bellingham once again.

Rail service resumed on Tuesday, April 1 between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. after about a week of passengers being transported by bus.

The suspension of Amtrak service was caused by corrosion found in Horizon cars used on the Cascades and several other Amtrak lines.

The Seattle Times reports substitute cars have been brought in from Chicago to restore the 516 and 519 trains through Bellingham. More cars are being transported from the Midwest and East Coast to help restore the entire Cascades line.

Trains may have fewer cars until the Horizon cars can be repaired.
