    Ski to Sea Race

    One of the most popular traditions in the Northwest! The 44th annual Ski to Sea race is Sunday, May 29th starting on Mt. Baker and continuing through Glacier, Maple Falls, Kendall, Everson, Lynden, and Ferndale—finishing at Marine Park in Bellingham’s historic Fairhaven district. Eight-member teams will compete in seven different sports—cross country skiing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, running, road biking, canoeing, cyclocross biking and sea kayaking. Spectators can watch at various points along the 93-mile course, or show up to support the competitors at the Fairhaven Festival. Find a course map HERE.


    FREE Days at WA State Parks

    Visit Washington state parks for free on specific days in 2016! The Discover Pass is not required to visit state parks on free days.

    The remaining free days for 2016 include:

    June 4: National Trails Day
    June 11: National Get Outdoors Day
    Aug. 25: National Park Service Birthday
    Sept. 24: National Public Lands Day
    Nov. 11: Veterans Day

    Chuckanut Foot Race

    July 9, 2016 - 9:00 am at Marine Park in Fairhaven

    This is the 50th year of the Chuckanut Foot Race and it is the longest running race in the State of Washington!

    This point-to-point, seven-mile trail race starts at Marine Park in south Bellingham and finishes at Larrabee State Park, the oldest state park in Washington. The course follows the legendary Interurban Trail, which threads through the Chuckanut Mountains and features gorgeous views of Chuckanut Bay and the San Juan Islands. View the course map here. Busses will take runners back to the finish line and will leave with regularity.

    The finish-line party at Larrabee State Park will include live music, food, and drink. Age-group awards will be given, three deep in each five-year category. Top three male and female finishers will also be recognized.
