Rolling Stones' urinals causing drama in Germany

The new Rolling Stones Fan Museum in a small German town has sparked controversy even before it has opened to the public.

The museum's men's room urinals were designed to look like the band's famous mouth logo. The logo was created in 1971 by art designer John Pasche and was modeled after Mick Jagger's famous rubbery mouth.

Critics have said the urinals convey a misogynistic message, the LA Times reports.

"It's discrimintation against women," Roda Armbruster told the newspaper. If the urinals sported a tongue, "it would have been acceptable," because the identification with the band and Jagger would have been unmistakable, she said. Without it, "it's a woman's mouth, not a man's mouth."

Ulrich Schroeder, the museum's founder, says the urinals don't represent anyone's mouth at all.

"It's art," he said. "It's staying."
