One Direction, ‘Anchorman’ cast form ‘Nine Direction’ on SNL

One Direction, ‘Anchorman’ cast form ‘Nine Direction’ on SNL

SUPER FAN: Paul Rudd, aka Dan Charles, is a really, really big fan. Photo: YouTube

British/Irish boyband One Direction teamed up with the stars of the “Anchorman” sequel this weekend to perform a comedy duet on “Saturday Night Live.”

The pop stars were guests on the comedy program on Saturday night along with host Paul Rudd and his movie co-stars, including Will Ferrell, David Koechner and Steve Carell. After exchanging barbs with the group, guest host Rudd declared he had set up a rival “man band”, before teaming up with the young singers for a rendition of Starland Vocal Band’s “Afternoon Delight,” and branding the supergroup “Nine Direction”.

In another sketch, (below), Rudd plays a star-struck 1D fan so devoted that he misses the birth of his child while waiting in a concert line and suggests to his wife that they name the baby after a band member.
